Welcome to Rookie League!

Welcome to our Cal Ripken Rookie League.  The purpose of this league is to introduce baseball by teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence for our 7 and 8 year old players.  In this league, all pitching is done by a coach-operated pitching machine.  The kids have adjusted to the machine and done quite well.  The pitching machine delivers many benefits to this age group:

  • Because the machine makes controlled pitches to every batter, fear of being hit by a pitched ball is reduced, which makes the game safer at this age level.

  • Because the machine consistently throws strikes, any boredom that can result from overpowering or inadequate player pitching is eliminated.  Fewer errors and greater throwing accuracy are the result of the increase in activity.

  • There is more action at the plate and in the field overall, helping to improve the playing confidence and ability of all participants.

Our Rookie League has received high praise from coaches, players, parents, and league officials.

For 2014 we will have as many teams as our sign up figures will allow.  We will play roughly 20 games with an end of year tournament to follow.
